About the program
USDA’s Section 504 program supports eligible rural homeowners with repair loans and grants. Grants are for qualifying homeowners age 62 or older and address health and safety hazards. Income, ownership, occupancy, rural location and other requirements apply.
Helping homeowners prepare
As an authorized Section 504 application packager serving Texas, The Chetwood Foundation helps homeowners navigate the paperwork associated with USDA’s home repair loan and grant program. We provide clear explanations, help organize supporting documents and prepare application packages for review.
USDA determines eligibility, funding and approval.
Prepare for an initial conversation
Have your property’s state and county, a description of needed repairs and a general understanding of household income ready. Later, USDA may require ownership, income and other supporting records. Do not send Social Security numbers, bank statements or medical information through this website.
Fees and decisions
Any packaging fee and its payment arrangements must be disclosed before you agree to services. TCF cannot promise approval, an award amount or a completion date. You may contact USDA directly about applying without a third-party packager.
